Committees

We  always need help on our many committees, if you would like to join us we would love to have you!  Please sign up for one of our committees today!

Annual Membership Meeting:  Members of this committee help plan and carry out the annual membership meeting, usually held on the last Thursday in June usually at a facility that can accommodate a large population of people. Food is served banquet-style, and the Chairman of the Board gives a brief presentation on the state of the Chamber and the annual budget.  This committee is open to all members.

Business Person of the Year:  Members of this committee help plan, solicit nominations for awards and solicit sponsors, and carry out the annual Business Person of the Year event, usually held in March.  Awards presented are:  Business Person of the Year, Volunteer of the Year, Chamber Partner of the Year, Good Neighbor Award.  This committee is open to all members, however, confidentially is a must.

Education:  The mission of the Education Committee is to partner local businesses and schools to produce students with skills that are relevant to the business environment and who are competitive in today’s and tomorrow’s business world. The Committee seeks to improve the quality of education in our community and to reduce the dropout rate in the schools. The Committee is open to all members.

Events:  The Events Committee oversees and assists the planning of all special events. Members of this committee meet as needed to prepare for upcoming functions, brainstorm new ideas, and evaluate the effectiveness and popularity of the Chamber’s special events.  This committee is open to all members.

Golf Tournament:  The objective of this committee is to hold the annual golf tournament at a local golf course to foster networking and promotional opportunities for members.   Meetings will be held in the six months leading up to the event date to recruit teams and call on members for goodie bag donations and door prizes. Members must be willing work the tournament the day of as needed.  Any member can be a part of this committee.

Government Affairs Committee: This committee monitors the activities of local and regional government bodies for issues that might affect Chamber members, and provides a voice for Chamber members before various Town boards and commissions, encourages members to become candidates for elected office, and conducts candidates’ forums. The committee reviews issues and develops Chamber positions for consideration by the Board of Directors. The Committee is open to all members.

Holiday Social Committee:  This committee plans, executes and evaluates a successful annual Holiday Social to be held in December which provides a holiday celebration open to members and invited guests.  This committee is open to all members.

Membership:  The mission of the Membership Committee is to ensure that members understand and take advantage of the benefits of Chamber membership. Members of this committee aid in the retention of existing Chamber members, assist the Board in active membership contact, and serve as official hosts at Chamber functions and events. Membership in the Membership Committee is open to any volunteer who has been a member of the Chamber for at least one year.

Nominating:  In accordance to the Chamber Bylaws, a Nominating Committee was organized to nominate candidates for the Board of Directors. The committee selects candidates to replace Directors whose three-year terms are expiring. Candidates for full three year terms must meet certain criteria.
